Training

How?

1.
You will need to identify the name and dates of the course you wish to take. You may refer to our Course Calendar.
2.
Apply at online registration on the NIOSH website via e-registration.
3.
Choose the location and date.
4. State the payment type.
5. Pay the course fee via online payment. Course registration is confirmed after payment of the fee is made.
6. Applicant will be able to download offer letter at NIOSH Website.
   

What are the requirements necessary to attend NIOSH training courses?

THE REQUIREMENT VARIES DEPENDING ON THE TYPES OF COURSES.
1.
OSH Awareness Programmes
  • The courses are open to all and no requirements or qualifications are needed. You just need to complete our training application form and follow the procedures
2.
Competency/ Cetificate Programmes
 
Safety and Health Officer Certificate Programme:
  1. Malaysian citizen; AND
  2. Possess a minimum of SPM/ SPMV/ MCE or equivalent with at least a Grade Three Pass. General certificate (SAP) or lower than Grade three will not be accepted.
  3. For SPM/SPMV after year 2000, a minimum of 6C for Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics AND minimum 8E for Science/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology AND pass other 2 subjects in 1 certificate/ examination or combination.
  4. Applicants must attach ONE (1) certified true copy of SPM/ SPMV/ MCE Certificate/Diploma/ Degree AND Identification Card
 
Occupational Health Doctor Certificate Programme:
  1. Malaysian citizen; AND
  2. Fully registered medical practitioner with Malaysian Medical Council.
 
Occupational Health Nurse Certificate Programme:
  • Applicant has to be a nurse registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board. Please attach your Nursing Board Registration letter with the training application form.

 
Hygiene Technician 1 & 2 Certificate Programme:
  1. Malaysian citizen; AND
  2. Possess a Diploma in Engineering, or Natural & Applied Sciences recognised by the   Government of  Malaysia; OR
  3. Possess the Higher School Certificate / Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a principal in any science subject, or a Polytechnic Engineering certificate or equivalent.
 
Chemical Health Risk Assessment Certificate Programme:
  1. Malaysian citizen; AND
  2. Possess a Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Safety And Health; Occupational  Safety; Occupational Health; or Industrial / Occupational Hygiene recognised by the Government of Malaysia; OR
  3. Possess a Degree in Medicine, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Ergonomics or  matural and Applied Sciences, recognised by the Government of Malaysia: OR
  4. Possess a Diploma in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Ergonomics, Natural  and Applied Sciences or Nursing recognised by the Government of Malaysia.
 
Indoor Air Quality Assessor Certificate Programme:
  1. Malaysian citizen; AND
  2. At least Diploma in Pure or Applied Sciences; OR

  3. Registered Assessor under OSH (USECHH) Regulations 2000; OR
  4. Registered Hygiene Technician 1 under OSH (USECHH) Regulations 2000.
 
Authorised Gas Tester and Entry Supervisor Certificate Programme:
  1. Malaysian citizen.
  2. Able to communicate verbally and write in Malay or English.
  3. Attended and passed the AESP / AESP-R course.
  4. Possess valid AESP / AESP-R card.
  5. Physically and mentally fit to enter the confined space as stated in the Health Examination checklist (ICOP for Confined Space 2010).

Noise Risk Assessor Certificate Programme:
  1. Malaysian citizen; AND
  2.  Possess minimum a Diploma in Science, Diploma in Engineering or Diploma in   Occupational Safety and Health accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
 
 

Do I qualify to become a NIOSH facilitator / trainer?

You qualify if you:
1.
Possess a minimum Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety and Health and minimum five (5) years working experience in a related area, or
2.
Possess a minimum Bachelors Degree in Engineering Science, Chemistry, Medical, Health or Environment and a minimum five (5) years working experience in a related area, or
3.
Possess a minimum of then (10) years working experience in Occupational Safety and Health or a related area. and/or
4.
Possess any Competency Certificate recognized by the Government of Malaysia.
 

Membership

What are the benefits of being a NIOSH Member?

NIOSH Membership is aimed at developing a group of Members who are committed, professional, knowledgeable and skilled in the field of Occupational Safety, Health and Environment.

This includes :

  • Professionals involved in the design, management and manufacturing of OSH equipment.

  • Corporate bodies including small and medium industries.

  • Academicians involved in the field of safety, health and environment.

What are the different types of NIOSH Membership?

Individual Membership Private individuals who are Malaysian citizens and are involved in safety and Health working environment.Corporate Membership Corporations incorporated under the Companies Act 1965 or organizations set up under the Societies Act 1966.

Can a subsidiary of a company be a member?

Membership for corporation is limited to companies approved by the Board and does not include subsidiary company/ies.Subsidiaries are required to submit separate applications for membership.

What is the duration of membership?

The duration of membership is one (1) year, starting from January to December of the year

Can NIOSH terminate its members?

Members who fail to pay the membership fees six (6) months from the date of expiry of membership will be suspended.

Membership will only be continued after full settlement of outstanding fees.

Id payment is not made after twelve (12) months from the date of expiry; membership will be terminated without further notice.

What is the fee charged to become a member?

Individual Membership (initial RM600.00)
  • Entrance : RM500.00

  • Annual Subscription : RM100.00

Corporate membership (initial RM1,500.00)

  • Entrance : RM1,200.00

  • Annual Subscription : RM300.00

How to apply?

Individual Membership:
  • Fill in relevant form.

  • Submit application with the relevant documents (Copy of IC, Resume and Certificates).

  • Payment should be made payable to NIOSH and address to the Executive Secretary NIOSH.

Corporate Membership:

  • Fill in relevant form.

  • Copy of nominee;s IC/ passport, Organisation chart showing designation of the nominee in the company and Company Registration Certificate.

  • Payment should be made payable to NIOSH and address to the Executive Secretary NIOSH.

Administrative Information

COURSE ADMISSION

NIOSH has implemented online registration on the NIOSH website via e-registration.

Admission is on a first-come first-serve basis. The management of NIOSH reserves the right to refuse admission in any programmes if the participant fails to produce the required payment or letter of

 
PAYMENT

Course registration is confirmed after payment of the fee is made online.

For participants who have registered and do not attend the course day, the fee will not be refunded.

Employers will be charged the full fee if their participants under the Special SBL Training Scheme withdraw and do not attend the course.

Fees are also subjected to 8% service tax.

 
CANCELLATION/FAILURE TO ATTEND

Once registration is made, fees remain payable unless a notice of cancellation is received as follows:

  1. If it occurs seven (7) days before the course starts, the fee will be refunded in full after deducting RM 50.00 for administrative costs.
  2. If it occurs less than seven (7) days, no refund will be made.
 
VENUE

Courses are held mainly at the NIOSH premises at Bandar Baru Bangi or at our branches in Penang, Alor Setar, Manjung, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Pasir Gudang, Kuantan, Kemaman, Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Labuan, Sandakan, Tawau, Kuching, Miri and Bintulu (Sarawak) (unless specified otherwise). In-house courses are held at a venue of the client's preference.

 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
 
  1. Registration starts from 8.30 am - 8.45 am and the training starts in between 8.45 am - 9.00 am. The complete course programme will be given to the participants on the registration day. Participants are advised to come early on the registration day.
  2. Starting January 1, 2024, NIOSH will not provide food and drinks to participants during the course. Participants are advised to bring their own food or purchase food from vendors at NIOSH or purchase food from shops/restaurants near NIOSH.
  3. Casual attire is acceptable for course. However, round-neck T-shirts and sandals/slippers are not permissible in the training rooms. Please be prepared with jacket/extra clothing as the temperature in certain training rooms can get extremely low, especially during rainy days.
  4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required for site visits or practical training. Please bring your own safety helmets, boots, ear protectors, safety gloves etc..Participants are encouraged to bring a calculator for practical and calculating purposes.
